Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini Receives the Prestigious George Winter Award
We are proud to announce that our PI, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini, has received the prestigious George Winter Award from the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB). This award honors pioneers whose work has made lasting contributions to biomaterials.
Prof. Boccaccini presented a plenary talk at the 34th Annual Conference of the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB2025), being held this week in Turin, Italy. His award lecture was one of the highlights of the ESB 2025 Congress, attended by over 1000 participants from around the world.
A global authority in bioactive materials, tissue engineering scaffolds, and nanomaterials for drug delivery, Prof. Boccaccini has authored over 1,100 scientific papers and supervised more than 70 PhD students. His visionary research in ceramics, glasses, and composites has helped shape modern biomaterials science.
As a former ESB Vice-President and current President of the Federation of European Materials Societies, he continues to lead the field through innovation, mentorship, and service.
