On March 6, 2026, Speinshart’s Monastery Church hosted Das Gehirn – Musikalische Erkundungen, an immersive event blending neuroscience, organ music, and large-scale visualizations. Organized by EBM, it transformed science into a shared sensory experience of art, sound, and space.

At the Long Night of the Sciences 2025, EBM invited visitors to explore the fascinating world of brain mechanics through interactive exhibits, live demonstrations, and rare insights into real human brain anatomy at the MPZPM Brain Lounge.

We are proud to announce that Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini has received the prestigious George Winter Award from the European Society for Biomaterials. His award lecture at ESB2025 in Turin highlighted his pioneering work in biomaterials, tissue engineering, and nanomaterials.

The second year of EBM brought significant progress, strengthened collaboration, and remarkable achievements in brain mechanics research. On October 10, 2024, Daniel Wehner was honored with the prestigious Rising Star Award by the International Society for Regenerative Biology (ISRB). This award recognizes emerging scientists who are pioneering new approaches in the field of regenerative biology and whose research has made a lasting impact.

On September 21, 2024, the event "Das Gehirn – Musikalische Erkundungen" at Matthäuskirche Erlangen merged science and organ music into a unique audiovisual experience. Organized by the CRC 1540 "Exploring Brain Mechanics" (EBM) with KMD Susanne Hartwich-Düfel and ITM media studios at FAU, it explored the brain’s world.

Congratulations to Daniel Wehner on winning the Hilde Mangold Science Prize! As a research group leader at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, Wehner's groundbreaking work in neuroregeneration has earned him this prestigious award. His research on scar formation and nerve regeneration in zebrafish versus mammals has made significant strides in understanding spinal cord injury recovery. The award was presented at the 25th Meeting of the German Society for Developmental Biology in Osnabrück.
