On September 21, 2024, the event "Das Gehirn – Musikalische Erkundungen" at Matthäuskirche Erlangen merged science and organ music into a unique audiovisual experience. Organized by the CRC 1540 "Exploring Brain Mechanics" (EBM) with KMD Susanne Hartwich-Düfel and ITM media studios at FAU, it explored the brain’s world.

At the seminar on July 12, Yashasvi Verma and Laura Ruhland presented project X01, focusing on reconciling ex vivo and in vivo data. L. Ruhland discussed hydrogels' testing, sparking lively debate, while Y. Verma highlighted modeling vascular structures in the brain for MRE experiments.

On June 19th, Prof. Katharina Breininger and Frauke Wilm invited EBM members to an introductory workshop on Deep Learning. Participants learned about neural networks and trained their own models in a hands-on session. Frauke Wilm concluded by highlighting the benefits of AI in medical data analysis.

On June 11, the EBM projects X03 and A03 showcased their research during an engaging seminar attended by (post)doctoral researchers and guests. Markus Lorke presented on hydrogels for brain tissue-like matrices. After a coffee break, Clara Froidevaux discussed brain organoids and future plans. The seminar concluded with a lively discussion.

On July 4, Prof. Silvia Budday and her team hosted an EBM Harmonization Workshop on mechanical testing of brain tissue. Participants learned to use constitutive models for simulations, experienced brain tissue stiffness, and conducted lab tests. Discussions inspired ideas for future research challenges.

On March 20, 2024, the 5th EBM Harmonisation Workshop took place, where twelve participants of the EBM Integrated Research Training Group recently delved into the intricate processes underlying early brain development during an immersive workshop.

The Consortium on Exploring Brain Mechanics met on February 9 at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light in Erlangen, to provide a comprehensive progress update on all ongoing projects within its purview.
